Get involved!!! The whole aim of the Summer Music Conference is to guide the music industry and club culture towards helping the community and healing the world. Summer Music Conference donates some its profits to a foundation that supports music related non-profit organisations in Toronto and we need dedicated and committed people to volunteer and help us to make this vision a reality. Volunteers help us breathe life into the various innovative activites, while insuring our week long festival remains entertaining, well organised and safe. A wide rage of people volunteer their time to forward the SMC. From students, DJs, enthusiasts, musicians, graphic designers, programmers, web-developers and entertainers to bankers, accountants, city employees and locals. With 20 committees coordinating the events throughout the week and helping to run all aspects of the festival, you can choose where you feel you can be of most value. Volunteer work for SMC is fun giving you a perfect way to meet some fantastic new people in an exciting party environment. This job gives you great experience, a letter of reference, VIP and back stage privileges and an awesome staff party for us to show our appreciation to you. Volunteer position one: The SMC is built up of 20 committees all relying on volunteers to contribute energy to realize the goals. You are asked for a commitment of 4 – 5 hours per week year-round, with an increase in hours closer to the conference and festival. Volunteer position two: Each of our committees is managed by one or two Coordinators. The main tasks of a Coordinator is to ensure the goals and objectives of the Committee are fulfilled. Coordinators are asked for a commitment of 5–7 hours per week year round with an increase closer to the festival. - i. any volunteer position which involves working within a beverage garden.
- ii. any safety & security volunteer position.
- iii. any treasury volunteer position.
- iv. any senior volunteer position which involves supervising other volunteers.
- v. all Coordinators must be 18 years of age or older at the time of their appointment. By having an age policy we ensure that you are given the tools to function in your role effectively and safely.
Our committees are : SMC promo-reps, on-site crew, security crew, kids fair & children's music workshop, the media crew, dis-ability resources, ticket sellers, production & stage management teams, the fund-raisers, etc...
