 | 2008 DMC Battle for Canadian Supremacy
Sunday July 27 @ Sound Academy (Formerly The Docks) This years DMC Battle for Canadian Supremacy is one of the highlighted events of the very first Summer Music Conference in Toronto. The Supremacy Battle will be held during the closing party Love Festival. The Battle is scheduled to start at 5:00 PM in the Main Room at Sound Academy. The DMC Battle for Canadian Supremacy is conducted in the tradition of the old school style Head to Head Battles in which 2 DJs pair off and battle each other for 2 rounds, with only one DJ advancing to the next round. Elimination Round: All DJs perform a 90 second evaluation routine each,
Judges choose Top 8 DJs.
Round 1 (Quarterfinal): 4 pairs of DJs battle, 2 x 90 seconds each
Round 2 (Semifinal): 2 pairs of DJs battle, 2 x 90 seconds each
Round 3 (Final): 1 pair of DJs battles, 2 x 90 seconds each
All judges' decisions are final.
Guidelines for entry:
- The Battle for Canadian Supremacy is open to Canadian DJs only.
- DJs use their own mixers, Ortofon cartridges/stylus, headphones, slipmats, vinyl records.
- The only turntables allowed are Technics SL1200/1210, which will be provided.

DJs from all across Canada and the cream of local talent fight it out for domination of the 1's & 2's and provide supreme audience entertainment. They are judged on skill, dexterity, technical ability and musical creativity as well as sheer crowd-rocking power. A panel of judges ranging from major worldwide track-spinners to some of the world's biggest promoters will decide who will become the 2008 DMC Canada / SMC Champion. The winners can expect prizes, a serious career boost, adulation, fame, fortune and maybe even a legion of groupies!
The DJ that places 1st will be Canada's official representative at the 2008 DMC Battle for World Supremacy taking place in London, England during the DMC World FINALS weekend - September 26 & 27.
